Abstract Environmental Health Project is a United States Agency for International Development centrally funded project that helps missions and bureaus and other development organizations to address both pre- and post-industrial transition environment-related health problems. To achieve the most significant health impact, EHP concentrates on interventions that address three major causes of infant and child illness and death in USAID-assisted developing countries: diarrhea, acute respiratory diseases, and  malaria.  These reports decribe issues and activities being addressed by EHP including specific health and environment problems with recommendations of policies and actions

Abstract "The following slides explain the evidence that links environmental exposures with the development of breast cancer. Recent research has focused on the role of estrogenic compounds in the etiology of breast cancer. Most of the known risk factors for breast cancer can be linked to total lifetime exposure to bioavailable estrogens. In fact, 40% of all cancers in women are thought to be hormonally mediated."

Abstract Summarizes the article "Reduced Ratio of Male to Female Births in Several Industrial Countries: A Sentinel Health Indicator?" published in JAMA (The Journal of the American Medical Association), issued April 1, 1998, coauthored by WRI's program director Devra L. Davis, PhD., MPH, and WRI associate Michelle B. Gottlieb, MES, and Julie R. Stampnitzky, of the Stern College for Women of Yeshiva University, New York, NY. which "examines the evidence for declines in the male proportion at birth and suspected causes for this decline, to determine whether altered sex ratio can be considered a sentinel health indicator (an early warning signal such as the "canary in the coal mine")."
